Graduating Class of 2019

We present to you the latest and greatest Massage Therapists to enter the workforce!

Last week, on January 21st, 2019, we hosted the Graduation ceremony for our Massage Therapy program. It was cold outside, but the vibe in here was warm, cheery, and super funny.  Krystofer, the Valedictorian for the class, had some great words to say about having a Massage Therapy Diploma in this day in age:

“I personally don’t think we could have picked a better time to do so. Our profession is on the rise, both in Manitoba and across the country. I mean, how many other professions do you know of where almost the entire graduating class has a job before they receive their diplomas?”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Krystofer.

We were excited to have that many people come out to support our Graduates and also get a personalized tour of our new space.  We caught many of the students proudly showing their friends and family around (secretly wishing they could stick around another semester or so in this beautiful space – but not really).

These are the award winners for this year’s graduation:

Massage Addict – Excellence in Massage Therapy – Katelyn Spidle

Class Contribution – Thor Halldorson

Deb Romeyn Academic Achievement – Tamara Boschman

Ruth Campbell Proficiency Award – Thor Halldorson

Cody Zankowski – Love for Life – Alice Jie Pan

Thank you to all who donated to Cody’s Memorial Award, we raised well beyond what we expected! We would love to keep this going for years to come, so if you haven’t donated, but would like to do so, please follow this link.

Charity of Choice Award

For the first time ever, we also presented the Charity of Choice Award, which is something new that we started this semester.

As a school, we already contribute to various charities throughout the year, as well as volunteer at events like The RCAF Run, Motionball, MB Marathon and many others (see the bottom of this post). But we felt it would be a good practice as a school and as a business, to partner up with a specific charity and focus some of our marketing and fundraising efforts to bring awareness to it.

At Evolve, we want to make sure that we are:

  1. Giving back to our community.
  2. Teaching our students that charitable giving should be a part of any good business practice.

To make this process interactive, we asked each student of this graduating class to put forth a charity of their choice along with a reason for supporting it, and how they saw themselves incorporating this particular charity into their own business plans going forward.

We had some great entries that varied from local artist groups to large and far reaching charitable organizations.  It was exciting to go through all applications, trying to decide who to partner with for this good cause.  In the end, we gave the award to Krystofer Penner, for Main Street Project.

We are in the process of contacting MSP to coordinate a Massage-a-Thon here in the spring as well as some monetary and clothing donations.

Congratulations again to this wonderful class.  We will miss having you around the school and are proud to call you our colleagues.
